COLOMBO (News 1st); Charitha Ratwatte, a former Secretary to the Ministry of Finance and senior advisor to a former Prime Minister, has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) in connection with a high-profile financial misconduct case.
The arrest related to an ongoing investigation into the procurement of 50 temporary warehouses in 2015, allegedly imported through the Sri Lanka State Trading Corporation at a cost exceeding Rs. 90 million.
According to investigators, the transaction was executed outside standard procurement procedures and without any demonstrable necessity at the time.
