President Unveils National Drug Eradication Plan

COLOMBO (News 1st); President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today (30) inaugurated the “A United Nation” National Mission to eliminate the drug menace from Sri Lanka, at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo.

Addressing the gathering, the President described the drug trade as a grave national threat, endangering school children, youth, and contributing to a surge in serious crimes across the country. He emphasized the urgent need for a unified national effort to eradicate drugs and protect future generations.

“We will build a broad public movement to eliminate the drug threat from our country and safeguard our society,” the President declared.

He also issued a stern warning to those involved in drug trafficking and related activities, urging them to withdraw immediately.

The “A Nation United” initiative will be implemented through a multifaceted strategy, integrating law enforcement, rehabilitation, prevention, public awareness, religion, sports, art, and culture.

The President invited all citizens, institutions, and communities to actively contribute to this national endeavor.
