COLOMBO (News 1st); A fire that broke out early this morning on the fourth floor of a multi-storey apartment complex on Dabare Mawatha, Narahenpita, has been successfully extinguished, authorities confirmed.
According to police, seven individuals who were trapped inside the building were rescued by officers of the Colombo Municipal Council Fire Brigade, using ladder trucks and other emergency equipment.
A total of five fire response teams from the Colombo Fire Brigade were deployed to the scene and worked swiftly to bring the blaze under control.
The operation was supported by personnel from the Sri Lanka Army, Police, and local residents, whose coordinated efforts helped prevent the fire from spreading further.
Senior police officials stated that investigations have been launched by the local Scene Of Crime Officers to determine the cause of the fire.
The Government Analyst is also expected to visit the site to conduct an official examination.
