COLOMBO (News 1st); Members from several politically divided parties came together under the banner “Maha Jana Hada” (Voice of the People) to announce a mass opposition rally against the current government.
At a press briefing held in Colombo, representatives from multiple parties declared their intention to hold a joint public protest on November 21, citing misgovernance and corruption as key concerns.
The parties aligned with the movement include:
Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB)
Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP)
Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP)
United National Party (UNP)
Pivithuru Hela Urumaya
Mahajana Eksath Party
National Freedom Front
Sri Lanka Mahajana Party
Nava Janatha Peramuna
The event was signaling a collective pushback against what organizers described as the government's “incompetent and fraudulent leadership.”
However, notably absent from the media briefing was any official representative from the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, despite the party being listed among the participating groups.
