COLOMBO (News 1st); After a four-year suspension, Kuwait Airways has officially resumed its flight operations to Sri Lanka.
The airline’s first flight since 2021 arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) this morning at 8:40 AM, operated by an Airbus A320neo from Kuwait International Airport.
The aircraft received a warm ceremonial welcome upon landing.
Onboard were 94 passengers and 6 crew members.
The return flight departed at 9:40 AM, carrying 105 passengers back to Kuwait.
Kuwait Airways had previously suspended its Sri Lankan operations on December 31, 2021, citing global disruptions.
The resumption comes with a new schedule: flights will now operate four times a week — on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
This move is expected to boost tourism, business travel, and diaspora connectivity, while strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between Sri Lanka and Kuwait.
