Govt Targets Complete Eradication of Drugs Within Three Years – Minister of Public Security

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Minister of Public Security, Ananda Wijepala, emphasized that the government’s objective is to completely eradicate drugs from the country within the next three years.

He stated that the government is also taking maximum measures to suppress underworld activities.

Minister Wijepala, together with Inspector General of Police and Attorney-at-Law Priyantha Weerasooriya, visited the Mahanayake Thero of the Sri Lanka Ramanna Maha Nikaya, Most Venerable Makulewe Wimala Thero, yesterday evening.

The visit was made to brief the Thero on the national programme for the elimination of drugs and underworld activities, scheduled to commence on the 30th of October.
