COLOMBO (News 1st); Two individuals, including the main accomplice who allegedly assisted Ishara Sewwandi—the prime suspect in the Gampaha Sanjeewa murder case—to flee to India, have been arrested following operations in Kilinochchi and Jaffna.

Police identified the main suspect as a man named Anandan, who is believed to have previously facilitated the illegal sea passage of several organized criminals to India.

Authorities say he played a key role in attempting to smuggle Ishara Sewwandi out of the country.

In addition to these arrests, four more individuals suspected of harboring and aiding Sewwandi while she was in hiding have also been taken into custody in the same northern regions.

Investigations revealed that Sewwandi had traveled from the Middeniya area to the north in a private vehicle and had stayed in three separate houses across Kilinochchi and Jaffna over a span of three days.
