Police Launch Multiple Investigations on the Shooting of Chairman of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha Office

COLOMBO (News 1st): A Cabinet media briefing presided over by Cabinet Spokesperson, Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayathissa and Police spokesperson ASP Frederick Wootler took place at the Department of Government Information today. 

Speaking on the shooting incident that occured this morning, which resulted in the death of the Chairman of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha, Lasantha Wickramasekara, Police Spokesperson ASP Frederick Wootler confirmed that the shooting was carried out by two individuals on a motorcycle using a sidearm firing four bullets. 

Four separate investigative teams have been deployed and are working promptly on the case. He also stated that Authorities believe they will soon gather enough information to enforce the law and appealing urgently to the public for any tips or guidance, stressing that citizen information is vital since the suspects gained entry to the council premises by falsely claiming to be there for official business. Wootler also expressed confidence on delivering justice on the incident.
