COLOMBO (News 1st); Airport & Aviation Services Sri Lanka (Private) Ltd has announced a strong performance across the country’s international airports, with 7,559,699 total passenger movements recorded from January to September 2025.
The data also highlights:
47,719 aircraft movements
680,821 transit passenger movements
1,706,308 tourist arrivals
At the same time, Sri Lanka’s international aviation sector is gearing up for a busy winter season, with several international carriers set to resume or launch operations at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) and Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA).
Kuwait Airways will resume its scheduled flights to BIA starting October 27, 2025, operating four flights per week.
Meanwhile, Red Wings and Belavia – Belarusian Airlines will commence their winter flight operations to MRIA from October 28, 2025.
Also joining the winter schedule at BIA are Swiss International Air Lines and Enter Air, both launching operations on October 28, 2025.
In response to the growing demand from airline partners, Airport & Aviation Services Sri Lanka (Private) Ltd has announced the addition of 12 new check-in counters at BIA, effective November 1, 2025, as a short-term measure to accommodate the seasonal surge in passenger traffic.
