COLOMBO(News 1st); Special transport services have been started for the convenience of the people visiting the countryside for the Deepavali festival.
Deputy General Manager (Operations) of the Sri Lanka Transport Board, T. H. R. T. Chandrasiri, said that 75 additional buses have been deployed today from the Pettah Bodhiraja Mawatha Bus Terminal to Hatton, Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, Maskeliya, Nanu Oya, and Jaffna.
He also said that 73 additional buses have been deployed from Colombo to those areas tomorrow.
The Sri Lanka Transport Board Deputy General Manager said that the bus service will operate 24 hours a day.
He also said that instructions have been given to the 12 Regional Officers of the Sri Lanka Transport Board to provide transport facilities to the people returning to Colombo from next Tuesday.
The National Transport Commission said that special bus services will operate from Makumbura and Bastion Mawatha in Pettah for Deepavali.
The Railway Department said that train services will operate as normal today and tomorrow.
