COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Digital Economy has confirmed that efforts are underway to fully restore the Sri Lanka Government Cloud Service, which experienced a disruption earlier this week.
Secretary to the Ministry, Varuna Sri Dhanapala, stated that officials from the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) are working continuously to bring the system back to normal.
The temporary outage has affected over 40 government websites, causing interruptions to several online public services.
However, in an official statement, ICTA assured that no data loss or compromise to security protocols has occurred as a result of the incident.
To ensure uninterrupted access to essential services, arrangements have been made to provide offline alternatives through Divisional Secretariats, including the issuance of certified documents.
The disruption comes amid an ongoing modernization and expansion project of the Lanka Government Cloud, aimed at enhancing infrastructure capacity and integrating advanced technologies to support digital governance.
ICTA further noted that the upgraded cloud platform will offer greater scalability, improved security, and enhanced service delivery across government institutions.
