Power to Transfer Police Officers to Return to IGP Next Week

COLOMBO (News 1st): The authority for transfers, promotions, and other matters concerning police officers, currently held by the National Police Commission (NPC), is set to be delegated back to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) next week.

A gazette notification formalizing this is scheduled to be issued in the coming week.

The move follows a decision taken by the National Police Commission, during a meeting held last Wednesday.

The National Police Commission currently holds authority over key personnel matters.
