717 Arrested In Island-Wide Police Operation

COLOMBO(News 1st); 717 suspects have been arrested under the ongoing island-wide crime and drug prevention operation.

Police said 27,932 individuals were tested yesterday during the operation.

Among those arrested yesterday were 28 individuals directly linked to crimes, 246 with day warrants, and 166 with open warrants.

Police also reported that 32 drunk drivers and 23 reckless drivers were taken into custody.

In addition, 3,747 people were arrested for traffic and other related offenses.

The operation is being carried out across the island on the instructions of the Inspector General of Police.
