COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Wildlife Conservation has issued a public warning about a fraudulent fundraising scheme claiming to collect money to provide food and water for animals in drought-affected wildlife reserves.

According to the Department, individuals are exploiting the ongoing dry weather conditions by falsely claiming to raise funds for the welfare of wild animals.

These operations are not authorized and do not reflect any official initiative.

The Department emphasized that it does not solicit public donations for providing food or water to animals in protected areas. All such activities are managed internally through government resources and conservation programs.

“We urge the public not to fall victim to these scams,” the Department stated.
