Sahaspura Shooting Suspect Arrested With ICE

COLOMBO(News 1st); The suspect involved in the recent shooting near the Sirisara Uyana playground in Sahaspura, Borella has been arrested by the Special Raid Unit of the Sri Jayawardenapura Special Task Force Base.

Police said the 34-year-old suspect, a resident of Ampara, was arrested yesterday in the Damana area with 10 grams and 710 milligrams of the drug "ice" and a motorcycle. He has been handed over to the Damana Police Station.

Investigations revealed that the suspect is a former Sri Lanka Army soldier who had deserted the army in 2015.

The shooting, which occurred on the 7th of last month near the Sahaspura playground, resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to three others.
