Netolpitiya Chemical Raid Connected To Middeniya ICE Stock

COLOMBO (News 1st): A consignment of chemicals suspected to be used in the production of the drug ‘ICE’ was uncovered in the Netolpitiya area of Tangalle.

Police said the discovery is believed to be linked to the same network responsible for the large chemical stock seized in Middeniya yesterday.

The seized chemicals are being assessed, with samples to be sent to the Government Analyst's Department for further investigations.

Authorities confirmed that details of the seizure will be reported to the Tangalle Court tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the individual taken into custody in connection with the Middeniya chemical stock is to be produced before the Walasmulla Magistrate’s Court today.

He has been identified as 38-year-old Wijewickrama Manamperige Piyal Senadheera, the brother ofSri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Pradeshiya Sabha member Sampath Manamperi.

Police stated that the 50,000-kilogram stock of chemicals in Middeniya was recovered based on information obtained during the interrogation of detained organized criminal ‘Backhoe Saman.’
