COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka Police says 50 people have died in shootings across the island over the past year, with 55 others having sustained injuries.

Police recorded 97 shooting incidents over the past year.

In the past 36 hours alone, four separate shootings were reported in the Grandpass, Panchikawatte, and Alubomulla areas.

Authorities stated that many of these incidents are linked to ongoing conflicts between organized crime syndicates.
