COLOMBO (News 1st); Dr. Alireza Delkhosh, the Ambassador of Iran to Sri Lanka, called on the United Nations Security Council to convene an emergency session to condemn what he described as U.S. aggression.
Speaking during a media briefing, the Ambassador emphasized Iran’s commitment to peace and stability in the West Asian region, including the Persian Gulf, Gulf of Oman, and the Red Sea.
He urged the IAEA Board of Governors to urgently address the situation, reaffirming that Iran’s nuclear facilities remain under full IAEA safeguards and supervision. “Iran will spare no effort to maintain peace and stability in the region,” he said, adding that the country values peaceful relations with all peace-loving nations.
Responding to questions, Ambassador Delkhosh clarified Iran’s position on the Strait of Hormuz, stating that Iran has no intention of closing the vital waterway. “Hormuz is part of the Persian Gulf, and it is our responsibility to ensure peaceful transit,” he said. However, he warned that “all options are on the table” if Iran’s national interests are fundamentally violated.
