Parliamentary Food Costs Reduced Amid Staff Requests

COLOMBO (News 1st) -Food prices for parliamentary staff will be reduced starting July 1. This follows a request made by the staff during a House Committee meeting chaired by Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne.

The monthly food fee for executive grade officers will decrease from Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 3,000, while non-executive staff members will see a decrease from Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 2,000.

The current food charges applicable to MPs’ drivers, members of the security forces including police personnel, and journalists will remain unchanged.
