COLOMBO (News 1st) - Minister of Health Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa says that steps will be taken to strengthen the quality control systems of all blood banks across the country.
He made this statement while participating in the national celebration held to mark World Blood Donor Day.
The Minister noted that measures will be introduced to establish internationally recognized standards and further improve the country’s blood transfusion service.
The ceremony was held at Temple Trees under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.
Addressing the event, the Prime Minister stated that the government intends to reintroduce a program to allocate one day annually for blood donation within state institutions.
