Government Freezes Assets of Terrorist Organizations and Individuals in New Gazette

Colombo (News 1st); The Sri Lankan government has issued a extraordinary gazette notification announcing the freezing of assets belonging to terrorist organizations and individuals.

The announcement was made by the Secretary of Defense, Retired Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha.

According to the new directive, the bank accounts and movable and immovable assets of 15 organizations and 117 individuals will be frozen.

The Ministry of Defense stated that this gazette is an amendment to the list of designated terrorist entities and individuals originally published on March 21, 2014.

As per the latest update, eight new individuals linked to terrorist activities have been added to the list, while some previously listed individuals have been removed.

The last amendment to this gazette was made on February 20 of this year.
