Body of Missing Fisherman Found Floating Near Galle Harbor

Colombo (News 1st); The body of a missing fisherman has been discovered floating in the sea near the Galle harbor, according to police reports.

Authorities stated that the individual was last seen preparing to go out to sea on the night of the 29th, departing from the Hikkaduwa fishing harbor.

Due to rough and windy weather conditions at the time, the fisherman had reportedly chosen not to head out to sea and instead remained on the boat. 

It is believed that while sleeping onboard, he was swept overboard by a strong gust of wind.

The deceased has been identified as a 42-year-old resident of Egodawatta, Hikkaduwa.
