Rs. 18 Million Drug Money Seized in Chilaw

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police arrested six individuals in Toduwawa, Chilaw, late last night, for the possession of Rs. 18 million in cash, believed to be proceeds from illegal drug operations.

According to police sources, the arrests were made during a routine inspection of a three-wheeler by officers conducting night patrols.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered the large sum of cash, raising immediate suspicions about its origin.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the money may have been earned through the transportation and distribution of narcotics.
