COLOMBO (News 1st) - Health officials report a rise in the number of children affected by dengue, chikungunya, influenza, and diarrhea, particularly following the recent rainy weather.

Dr. Deepal Perera, Pediatrician at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children, attributed the surge in cases to the increase in mosquito breeding and the spread of seasonal infections due to showery conditions.

He also raised concern about a growing number of children over the age of six being diagnosed with high blood pressure.
