Sabaragamuwa University Death: 10 Students Now in Custody

COLOMBO (News 1st); Two additional students from the Faculty of Technology at Sabaragamuwa University have been arrested in connection with the recent death of a second-year undergraduate, bringing the total number of arrests to ten.

The arrests were made by officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), who are leading the ongoing probe into the incident, which has sparked national concern over ragging and student safety in Sri Lankan universities.

The two suspects, both third-year students, are scheduled to be presented before the Balangoda Magistrate’s Court today.

Of the ten students arrested so far, four have already been remanded until May 16.

Investigations are being carried out by multiple parties, including the CID, to determine the circumstances surrounding the death and the extent of involvement by those arrested.
