COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, Commander of the United States Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM), at the Presidential Secretariat today (21).
The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations and ensuring the security of the Indian Ocean region.
During the meeting, Admiral Paparo extended his best wishes to President Dissanayake and expressed appreciation for the new government's policy direction.
He commended Sri Lanka's efforts in maintaining a peaceful maritime environment and supporting regional security.
Admiral Paparo reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the longstanding ties between Sri Lanka and the United States.
He pledged support for the successful implementation of the Sri Lankan government's new initiatives, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in the Indo-Pacific region.
President Dissanayake expressed his gratitude for the continuous assistance provided by the United States in developing human resources within Sri Lanka’s security forces. He acknowledged the longstanding cooperation between the two nations and highlighted the positive impact of U.S. support.
