COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Secretary to the Ministry of Health has instructed a three-member committee to submit its investigation report on the safety and facilities for the staff at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital before March 24.
The committee will be chaired by Director of Health Services for the North Western Province, Specialist Dr. M.K. Sampath Indika Kumara. Other members include W.U.K. Croos, Administrative Officer of the Ministry of Health, and O.B.J De Silva.
This investigation comes in the wake of an incident involving the sexual assault of a female doctor at the hospital, which has brought to light several administrative shortcomings that have persisted for years.
The Ministry of Health has highlighted that the hospital administration has failed to ensure the safety and proper facilities for its staff.
Additionally, the Ministry has noted the lack of proper management of both fixed and mobile assets at the hospital.
In response, the committee has been tasked by the Secretary to the Ministry of Health, Specialist Dr. Anil Jasinghe, to thoroughly investigate these issues.
