Expert Committee Appointed to Address Issues at Institute of Engineering Technology

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education, Harini Amarasuriya, has appointed an expert committee to resolve the academic and welfare challenges at the Institute of Engineering Technology, Katunayake.

The Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education said that the six-member committee will address the long-standing issues surrounding academic courses at the institution, which operates under the National Apprenticeship and Technical Training Authority (NAITA) . 

The committee will also provide recommendations for the future direction of the institution.

Samanthi Senanayake, Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education, has been appointed as the convener of the committee.

The committee, chaired by Senior Professor O.G. Dayaratne of the University Grants Commission, includes the following members:

Additional Secretary, Higher Education Division, Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education H. Apsara Kaldera, Member of Engineering Council of Sri Lanka Danuth Illukkumbura, Chartered Engineer M.M. Stanley Moremada
Professor Kushan Kalmith Wijesundara, Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya and Chairman of the National Apprenticeship and Industrial Training Authority H.A. Abdul Sattar.
