COLOMBO (News 1st): Former Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon has been placed under an overseas travel ban, according to a request made to the Matara Magistrate, by Sri Lanka Police.
The Matara Magistrate's Court issued an order for the arrest of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon, on Friday.
This order is in connection with the investigation into a shooting incident that occurred on December 31, 2023, in front of a hotel in the Palana area of Matara.
In addition to the former IGP, the court also ordered the arrest of eight other individuals, including Anselm de Silva, the Officer-in-Charge of the Colombo Crimes Division.
The charges filed against are in connection with conspiring to commit homicide.
