Nine-Year-Old Dead in Shooting in Kuliyapitiya, Suspect Arrested

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred last night in Magulagama, Hettipola, Kuliyapitiya.

A nine-year-old child lost her life in the shooting, while her grandmother sustained injuries.

According to the police, several residents of the area had opened fire at a herd of wild boars last night, during which the two children were caught in the gunfire.

The grandmother sustained a gunshot wound to her leg and was admitted to the Kuliyapitiya Teaching Hospital for treatment.
