COLOMBO (News 1st); The unveiling of the 146th edition of the Battle of the Blues between S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia, and Royal College, Colombo, was held in Colombo on Wednesday

146th edition of the Battle of the Blues is scheduled to be played on the 6th, 7th, and 8th of March at the SSC Ground in Colombo.

Asanka Perera, Acting Warden of S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia, emphasized the significance of the match, stating, "It's that time of the year when the schools start buzzing as we inch closer and closer to the three-day event at the SSC, where 22 cricketers will be battling it out on the green for the coveted Senanayake Shield. To the two teams, this game is yours, and don't let all these fancy events take your attention away from that. A lot of external pressures surround the Royal Thomian encounter, but for the 22 of you, this is your game to battle it out in the middle according to the rules of the game. In the middle, you battle your heart out, but off the field, you come off as friends."

L. W. Krishantha Silva, Principal of Royal College, Colombo, highlighted the historical importance of the event, saying, "The Royal Thomian is a very important event in the sporting calendar of both our schools. This encounter, conforming to international standards, has an unbroken history of 146 years with tremendous significance not only for the players, the parents, and other school children but also to Sri Lanka and world cricket as this is the second-longest-standing encounter, being second only to SSC. An event we can be proud of as Sri Lankans."

Buddhi Wickramanayake, COO of MBC Networks, expressed pride in their continued partnership, stating, "MBC Network is incredibly proud to continue our 16th-year partnership with the historic Royal Thomian cricket match. This long-standing collaboration underscores our deep commitment to bringing the nation's most cherished sporting tradition to a wide audience. We will be giving updates every hour. News First will be bringing in all our bulletins, and within all three days, you can watch from overseas. To add to the excitement, YES FM will be going live from the grounds."

MTV MBC is partnering with the Battle of the Blues for the 16th time.
