Navy Sailor Arrested With Missing T56 Assault Rifle

COLOMBO (News 1st): A Navy sailor has been arrested along with a T56 assault rifle that was reported as missing.

According to the police, the arrest took place during a search operation conducted at his residence in the Galpola Colony of Ilukhena in Kuliyapitiya.

While the suspect had served at the armory at the Rangala camp of the Colombo Harbour in 2021, the operation resulted in the discovery of the T56 assault rifle, which had also been missing since 2021 from the said armory at the Rangala Camp of the Colombo Harbor.

The suspect has been handed over to the police for further investigation, as confirmed by the Navy.
