COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Power has announced plans to expedite the implementation of 100 stalled solar power projects.

Minister Kumara Jayakody stated that these projects are expected to add 500 MW of capacity to the national grid within this year.

Among these are solar power projects with capacities up to 10 MW.

Minister Jayakody explained that several issues, including deficiencies in the approval documents, have prevented these projects from becoming operational.

Additionally, the Ministry is currently considering the approval of 49 solar power projects with a combined capacity of 4000 MW.

A committee has been appointed to oversee this process. The Ministry plans to reach an agreement on the purchase price of electricity generated by these solar power projects.
