Sri Lanka Army Appoints New Chief of Staff

COLOMBO (News 1st); Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, effective from February 9, 2025.
Prior to this appointment, Major General Wickramasinghe served as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army.
A distinguished officer of the Gajaba Regiment, Major General Wickramasinghe has had a notable military career. Born in Matale, he is an alumnus of Matale Vijaya College and Kandy Dharmaraja College. He joined the Sri Lanka Army as a cadet officer in 1989.
