Stricter Regulation of Ayurvedic Medicines and Cosmetics

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, has instructed the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation to take steps to regulate both Ayurvedic medicines and Ayurvedic cosmetic products.

The Minister gave these instructions while attending a ceremony at the Rajagiriya National Ayurveda Hospital Auditorium, where members were appointed to the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation.

At the event, the Minister said that when regulation in the Ayurvedic sector is neglected, high-quality and properly regulated products do not reach the public.

The Minister also noted that a large number of complaints have already been received regarding this issue.

Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa further emphasized the importance of closely monitoring and regulating all Ayurvedic medicines, cosmetic products, and raw materials.
