COLOMBO (News 1st) - Sri Lanka has officially requested the handover of Janith Madushanka de Silva, alias "Podi Lassi", an infamous figure involved in organized crime and drug trafficking, who was recently arrested in Mumbai, India.
The request was made by Sri Lanka's Acting IGP Priyantha Weerasooriya, who confirmed that the Indian High Commission had been contacted for information on Podi Lassi.
Podi Lassi was arrested in Mumbai yesterday.
He had been released on bail by the Balapitiya Magistrate Court on December 9, 2024, with a travel ban imposed.
However, it was later discovered that he had traveled to India.
Following this revelation, Police promptly informed Indian Police, resulting in his arrest.
