SLCERT Reports Rise in Bank Account Scams

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team says there is an increase in scams targeting bank accounts during the festive season.

Chief Information Security Engineer Nirosh Ananda has urged the public to exercise caution and avoid falling prey to fraudsters.

He warned that scam emails and SMS messages may include fake offers or coupons, advising the public not to click on any links. 

He also stressed the importance of not sharing bank account details or providing one-time passwords (OTPs) to any third party under any circumstances.
