School Principal Arrested for Bribe in Exchange for Student Admission

COLOMBO (News 1st):

A primary school principal from Ragama has been arrested on charges of soliciting a bribe of Rs.150,000. 

The arrest follows a complaint filed by a woman from Mattumagala in Ragama, which was investigated by officers from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

According to the Commission, the suspect allegedly demanded the bribe in exchange for securing admission for the complainant's child into Grade 1 for the year 2025.

The arrested principal is set to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court.
