Three Candidates in Hot Water Over Missing Campaign Reports

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Election Commission has announced that it will take action against candidates who have not submitted their campaign income and expenditure reports, in accordance with the Election Act.

Chairman R.M.A.L. Ratnayake stated that after notifying the police, they will seek the Attorney General's advice to proceed with the necessary actions.

Three presidential candidates have failed to submit their campaign income and expenditure reports. 

These candidates are Venerable Battaramulle Seelarathana Thero, Sarath Keerthiratne, and Ariyanethiran Pakkiyaselvam.

The deadline for presidential candidates to submit their campaign income and expenditure reports ended at midnight on Sunday.

According to election law, presidential candidates must submit their income and expenditure reports within 21 days of the announcement of the election results.
