COLOMBO (News 1st); The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has commenced recording statements from several parents of students who sat for the recent scholarship examination.

This action is part of the investigation into allegations that questions from the first paper were leaked prior to the exam.

The CID stated that they are gathering information from parents who may have knowledge related to the incident.

The collected statements will be compiled into a report, which will then be submitted to the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission and the judiciary.

In a related development, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake instructed that the evaluation of the scholarship exam answer scripts be suspended for two weeks. This decision followed a meeting held the night before between the President and a group of parents who were protesting issues related to the exam questions.

According to a statement from the President's Media Division, parents have claimed that not just three, but eight questions from the recent Grade 5 scholarship exam were leaked before the exam took place.

Consequently, they have requested that the exam for the first paper be conducted again.
