Cabinet Decision to Waive Visa Fees To Be Reinstated

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Tourism Development Authority has announced that the Cabinet decision to waive tourist visa fees for 39 countries will be reinstated as soon as possible.

Chairman Priyantha Fernando stated that the issuance of the relevant gazette notification was delayed due to the dissolution of parliament.

He mentioned that they are currently exploring the President's authority to reinstate the decision.

Fernando also highlighted that the suspension of the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system has resulted in an estimated loss of nearly $100 million to the country over the past two months.
