COLOMBO (News 1st); Parents are protesting today, demanding a proper resolution to the issues that arose in this year's Grade 5 Scholarship Examination paper.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Education decided to award marks for the three problematic questions based on the recommendations of a committee of local and international experts appointed for this examination.

This morning, parents gathered in front of the Ministry of Education in Pelawatta to express their concerns. They emphasized the need for a swift resolution to the issues in the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination paper.

Additionally, a group of parents from several schools in the Elpitiya Education Zone also protested today in front of the Elpitiya Zonal Education Office.

"Our children have already suffered a lot due to COVID-19, fuel issues, and teachers' strikes. After all their hard work, they faced problems with the exam paper. It's unfair to them," said one parent.

News 1st reached out to the Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Thilaka Jayasundara, for a comment.

She stated that an opportunity would be given to a few protesting parents to discuss the situation. During this discussion, the Ministry's stance on the matter will be communicated.
