Man Arrested with Duty-Free Cigarettes

COLOMBO (News 1st); A man was apprehended at the Katunayake International Airport early this morning for attempting to smuggle a large consignment of duty-free cigarettes into the country.

According to police reports, the suspect was found in possession of 10,000 foreign cigarettes. 

The operation was conducted by a team of officers from the airport's Narcotics Division.

The suspect, a 29-year-old male, was taken into custody during the raid. 

Further investigations are underway to determine the extent of the smuggling operation and any potential connections.
