Government Printer Begins Preparations for Parliamentary Elections

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Government Printing has commenced preliminary printing activities in preparation for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Ganga Kalpani Liyanage, the Government Printer, announced that the initial phase includes the printing of gazettes, application forms, and other essential documents. 

The estimated cost for these printing activities has not yet been determined.

Liyanage assured that all printing tasks will be completed a week before the parliamentary elections, scheduled for November 14.

The printing of ballot papers and official polling cards will begin after the nomination period concludes.

The parliamentary elections will be conducted based on the 2024 voter registry. 

The nomination period will start on October 4 and end at noon on October 11, as stated in an extraordinary gazette notification.

The newly elected parliament is expected to convene on November 21.
