Provincial Governors In Sri Lanka Resign

COLOMBO (News 1st); Governors of several provinces have resigned from their positions.

This was announced by the President's Secretary, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, in an extraordinary gazette.

Governor of the Central Province, Lalith U. Gamage

Governor of the North Central Province, Mahipala Herath

Governor of the Southern Province Lakshman Yapa Abeywardana

Governor of the Eastern Province Senthil Thondaman

Governor of the Sabaragamuwa Province Navin Dissanayake

and Governor of the Uva Province Anura Vidanagamage have resigned from their positions as governors.

At the same time, the media unit for the Northern Province Governor P. S. M. Charles said that she resigned from her position.

The Governor had taken this decision following Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s swearing in as the President of Sri Lanka.
