COLOMBO (News 1st); Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the presidential candidate of the National People's Power (NPP), has expressed confidence in securing a decisive victory in the upcoming presidential election.

He has extended an invitation to the people of the Northern Province to join in this anticipated triumph.

Dissanayake highlighted the significant shift in political attitudes among Tamil youth in the Northern Province, noting that the new generation has moved away from traditional politics. "For the first time, there is an opportunity to transfer power to the hands of our lower-class people," he stated.

Dissanayake emphasized that while the NPP is poised to win the election scheduled for September 21, support from the northern populace is crucial.

He pointed out that previous governments, often rejected by the north, had failed to address the region's needs.

He assured that the NPP is not aiming to create a government that indulges in luxury at the expense of public wealth. Instead, the focus will be on solving local issues, particularly in education and agriculture.
