COLOMBO (News 1st): Sajith Premadasa, the presidential candidate of the Samagi Jana Balavegaya, has reaffirmed his commitment to resolving land and housing problems through the Gamudawa initiative.

Premadasa highlighted his previous efforts in the Batticaloa district, where numerous houses were constructed. He criticized the halting of these projects under the administrations of Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Ranil Wickramasinghe, stating that funds were withheld, preventing the completion of the housing projects.

"We built a lot of houses in Batticaloa district. When Gotabaya Rajapaksa came to power, he stopped building those houses. The money was stopped. Ranil Wickramasinghe also followed in Gotabaya Rajapaksa's footsteps. Money was not released to build those houses," Premadasa said.

He assured that, upon winning the election, his administration would not only complete the unfinished houses but also create new villages and distribute land.

Premadasa also emphasized the protection of traditionally farmed farmlands and pledged to address human-elephant conflicts.
