COLOMBO (News 1st); State Minister of Technology, Kanaka Herath, has pointed out that the government's digital strategy is being adopted by opposition parties, albeit in fragments.

Herath noted that the National People's Power (NPP) has incorporated parts of the strategy, while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya's (SJB) digital policy closely mirrors India's 'India Stack'.

"Our digital strategy has already been copied by NPP, but in snips, and the SJB's digital policy is a direct reproduction of India Stack. The encouraging point is that the other parties are trying to follow the footsteps of the President's vision, and this is a good sign for the country," Herath stated.

He expressed hope that these parties would fully support the digital strategy when it is presented to Parliament. "I hope they will read the full Act and support it when we present it to Parliament shortly," he added.

Herath emphasized the importance of maintaining the current momentum and political stability to ensure the continued progress of the country's digital transformation.

"We cannot reset the clock and start all over again. To sustain this momentum, it is crucial that we go through the changes we have witnessed and maintain the political stability that has been so carefully restored," he concluded.
