COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of the Registrar General has introduced a new instant hotline service under the number “1930”, aimed at providing the public with more efficient and accessible services.
Alongside the launch of the hotline, the department also unveiled its modernised official website, marking a significant step in improving public access to accurate and timely information.
The launch ceremony was held under the patronage of Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government.
The 1930 instant call centre has been established by leveraging modern technology to enhance service delivery and ensure greater efficiency for the public. The service allows users to obtain information in Sinhala, Tamil, and English, ensuring accessibility to citizens across the country.
The Registrar General’s Department noted that the communication gap between public institutions and citizens has often led people to depend on intermediaries, creating legal issues related to the authenticity of official documents.
By providing verified and accurate information directly to the public through the 1930 hotline and the newly launched website, the department stated that steps have been taken to eliminate such fraudulent practices and deliver a more transparent and reliable public service.
