Colombo (News 1st) - Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the presidential candidate from the National People's Power (NPP), issued a call for systemic change in Sri Lanka's governance.

Addressing the public, Dissanayake highlighted the long-standing issues that have plagued the country, emphasizing the need for a government that serves the people rather than the rulers.

Dissanayake painted a stark picture of the current state of the nation, pointing out the government's failure to provide essential services such as medicines in hospitals, educational facilities for children, and proper nutrition for pregnant mothers.

He criticized the lack of rule of law and the adverse impact on farmers and young people, many of whom are forced to leave the country in search of better opportunities.

He condemned the existing regime for fostering an environment rife with drug crimes, large-scale fraud, and corruption. Dissanayake noted the disparity between the wealth of the rulers and the poverty of the people, describing it as a regime that has been extremely unfair to the populace while being highly favorable to those in power.

Dissanayake also criticized the misuse of state resources for political gain, specifically pointing out the actions of current officials and the President's election campaign. He accused the government of using state property and funds to support their political activities, contrasting this with the NPP's approach of engaging directly with the people and advocating for transparency and change.
